Street Fighter 6 brings flip-flops to Ryu and anxiety to fans

The countdown in CAPCOM’s website timer has finally reached zero, yet the much anticipated reveal has nothing to do with a new Resident Evil title, as many hoped and strived for. The teaser was instead about the sixth offspring of Street Fighter, one of CAPCOM’s most historic titles, and probably one of the most impoverished of late.

Judging by the teaser, Street Fighter 6, as it will probably be called, comes with next-gen graphics, a pair of… flip-flops for Ryu, and that’s it. For real, that’s just about it. A glimpse of Ryu in his new footwear, a bit of Luke, and “end scene”.

That’s a pity, given the fact that fans needed a bit more than that to overcome their fear of anticipating yet another installment of the game that may not manage to live up to its predecessors.
Let’s not forget that SF 5 came out in 2016, and didn’t have much to show for either. That’s literally five years too many without a proper Mortal Kombat competitor, all while MK evolved for the better again, and again, and again.
